Human Rights, Peace, and Governance (HuRiPeG)

This main program area comprises the following sub-program areas and their activities: Human Rights

This programme exposes people to the basic principles of human rights and international conventions; Monitoring; documentation and reporting skills; advocacy; lobbying as well as the management of human rights groups. It facilitates campaigns for ending the culture of impunity in our society. It strengthens community and traditional structures for redressing violations and abuses, and also facilitates the development of mechanisms that promote and guarantee respect, protection and the realization of peoples’ rights.

The programme articulates and bridge issues of human rights with all aspects of Green Scenery’s programmes. Activities

Undertake human rights education through trainings/awareness raising workshops and/ seminars

Establish human rights clubs and networks in schools and assist in the formation of groups in depressed communities

Advocate and lobby policy makers for constitutional and policy reforms

Campaign for speedy and fair trial of all human rights violators

Simplify and popularize the national constitution or its relevant sections as well as other international human rights instruments such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, CEDAW, the CRC, the ILO Conventions etc.

Collaborate with other organizations/institutions to set up networks for effective promotion of human rights

Integrate human rights into all of Green Scenery Programmes to reflect the rights-based approach.
