Background
Green Scenery’s strategic approach to its programming includes state of the art
awareness raising, training for empowerment and policy advocacy and research, using
best practices in participatory and education frameworks. In this regard, our targets
(regardless of ethnicity, creed, religion, region, political affiliation, gender or age) are
exposed to carefully planned processes of animation and education that recognize best
practices, which leads to concrete actions in addressing challenges faced by our targets
especially hard pressed communities and disadvantaged groups.
Green Scenery’s recent strategic plan in December 2003, which was borne out of the
organization’s evaluation of its programs and itself, identified three broad program areas
these are: Peace, Governance and Human Rights, Livelihood and Environment. The
main reason for strategically positioning the organization in these sectors is to be of
better relevance and of greater impact at local, national, and even international levels
during the country’s inching movement out of transitions (from war to peace and
dictatorship to democracy) to development aspirations.
Green Scenery has been engaged in programs of Environment, Peace and Human
Rights and only recently added Governance and Livelihood to its interventions due to
the demands from the field and the gaps that exist in the development sphere of the
country.
